Abstract

|
Improved graft survival after simultaneous pancreas and renal transplantation in type I diabetes mellitus(DM) stimulated many centers in the world to have an interest on this new field. However solitary pancreas transplantation in uncomplicated
DM
has
some controversy regarding the use of immunosuppressants replacing the insulin treatment and lower graft survival compared with the simultaneous pancreas and renal transplantation.
In terms of prophylaxis for irreversible diabetic complication such as blindness, pancreas transplant aloe will be the another treatment modality in the I DM in the condition of improved graft survival from the various innovations in
immunosuppression,
management of the pancreatic exocrine secretion and selective donor-recipient matching.
After experience of 2 cases of simultaneous pancreas and renal transplantation, we have done pancrease transplantation alone in type I DM. Now we are going to report the one year follow up result of 2 diabetic patients after solitary pancreas
transplantation.
